Oh my word - the saga continues! Cody woke up at 2:30am - so we've been up since then! It's now 2pm and we just got home from church. To top off the night of no sleep, I put Cody in the playroom earlier in the morning while I got the diaper bag ready for church. I literally turned my back on him for seconds, and in that time, I discovered he now knows how to take off his own diaper! Evidenced by the diaper on one end of the room, his naked body on the other end, and trails of -- um --- poo poo in between. He was covered head to toe in it - top to bottom. The carpet, his toys, it even got under the couch (how THAT happened, I don't even want to know!) I screamed, picked him up to carry to the changing table and in the process got covered in it myself....used an entire box of wipes to clean him off just enough to put him in the tub! Drained the bath water several times before it was clear and not the murky shade of --- messy diaper. Got him out, dressed him for church, and confined him to his high chair while I went to the living room armed with a can of Resolve - Extra Strength! I must have scrubbed that carpet forever - and it finally was clean and there was no stains. Crazy. Church went smoothly - I got to sit next to Kim and Loretta which is always a barrell of fun! It's all we can do not to talk the whole time - making asides and comments on every point made in the sermon. I so wish Don and I had more opportunity for fellowship. When I'm with our church family - it's one of the only times things don't seem quite so horrible. There's so many friends in one place - so many people checking in - supporting - loving us. Once a week just isn't enough. Being stuck in this house night and day is so isolating. We got home and I put Cody down for a nap - only to be summoned to his room minutes later by the sound of his gutteral screams, flailing, turning blue, gasping for breath. A huge seizure - minute and a half long. That was followed by 5 weird shakey episodes that didn't go into full seizure mode, but were definitely seizure activity. And so goes our day. So hard. I was so hopeful the Topamax was making a difference. But it looks like we may have to chalk it up as drug #14 to do absolutely nothing. I better run and attend to the little one. Thanks for reading. Hopefully better news tomorrow. love, shawna |
