Hi there - happy 4th of July to all. We spent the day enjoying the benefits of our friend Veronica who helped with the boys while Don and I tried to catch up on life. I did taxes (late, I know....) and Don did about 15 loads of laundry! Then we went to a friend's barbeque - she invited us AND the boys! Brave woman! It was so nice. We felt human. We socialized, we laughed. People took turns walking Cody around and holding Casey so we could eat, play ping pong, and just relax a bit. Cody had a great few days (prior to yesterday). He is doing fantastic with ABA - he's now pointing to pictures when told "point to Elmo!" He puts his little pointer out and hits it right on the mark! He's also stacking rings on a tall pole. He's pushing the buttons that make his veggie tales book talk. But yesterday the seizures came back hard - he had 2 during the day and 2 overnight. We've been up since 3:30am. yawn. These are the big screaming, turning blue ones - the ones we dread. I have no idea why. I put him on an elimination diet recently where we took out 15 items that he tested sensitive to. So if anything he should be doing better. He is such a mystery. Today he had a big one just a bit ago. Poor Casey runs for cover when Cody starts screaming - I often wonder how Casey will process all this as a baby. Brother screams, mommy runs to him, brother turns blue, mommy lays him on the floor and prays, brother froths at the mouth, mommy cries, brother breathes, mommy stops praying and holds him - and Casey is left to watch it all alone. It stinks. On a lighter note, boy were we blessed yesterday. 3 people from church came over to work in our yard as a part of "Project Eastside" that our church created. Different troups of people go to the homes of those in (and outside of) the church body who are in need. Thanks Richard, Carol, Scott and Norman!!! Casey turns 1 year old wednesday - I just can't BELIEVE it! We aren't doing anything special - we are so exhausted. But we will celebrate his little life in our hearts that day. He is such an easy, joyful little boy. I couldn't have been blessed with an easier, happier child. God knew. And speaking of being blessed, my neice Krissy is coming up for a week to lend a hand! She's 14 and a sweetheart. She's great with the boys so it will be awfully nice. That's it for now - love to all! Shawna |
