Oh my, is it June already?!?  Where does time go?  Cody has had a really nice week with some really sweet communicating.  We were at the Dr's office recently and were in a clinic room.  Cody walked across the room, grabbed the nurse by the hand, led her to the door and put her hand upon the handle!  It was great because she looked at me and just said, 'he wants outside!'  He told her exactly what he wanted and she understood!  This level of communicating is so wonderful for us ~ Cody regularly takes us by the hand and leads us to what he wants.  Sometimes it's a toy up on a shelf so he grabs our hand, walks us to the shelf, and lifts our hand up in the air to say 'go get that for me!'  If the 'right' swing isn't up at the moment, he goes into the playroom and grabs the swing he wants and drags it over to us and puts it in our hands.  Finally....he understands that the world revolves around relationship!

One of my other favorite moments was when I was in the kitchen and he wanted to go outside.  I saw him signing 'open' at the front door, but I was in the middle of cooking something I couldn't walk away from.  So he went and grabbed his shoe, brought it to me, and put it in my hand.  LOVE IT!

He's now also able to scribble with multiple markers and crayons, on the table, on the chalk board, or on a big white board.  And the best part, he does it voluntarily ~ he'll just stroll into the kitchen and scribble for awhile and walk away.  That's just what you look for with these ABA programs - that they will expand his interest in appropriate play.  He'll also now get a book and thumb through the pages which is super too.

So he's doing some fun stuff ~ just thought I'd share his accomplishments.

I talked with his Neuro asst. yesterday and we are as high as we can go on the Vimpat (1 and 1/2 pills twice daily.)  So it would seem the Vimpat is doing as much as it is going to be doing.  It has not been a cure-all...but it has definitely reduced the severity and length of Cody's seizures....with little to no side effects.  So I highly recommend it.

Well I must go and get dinner ready for the boys.

Love to all~  Happy weekend to you~
