Hello there! We went to the 'shady' park this weekend. It's a park where Cody doesn't have to deal with sunshine in his eyes. There's lots of trees, and sun covering. So it's 'our' park. I try and try to get a photo of Cody that shows his inner light - but unfortunately most photos of him make him look kind of vacant. He's not really like that - he is full of life. It just doesn't translate on film. But here are some shots of Cody anyway - enjoying himself at the park. His little resilient spirit is in there - behind those eyes.
We also went to church today where Casey declared that "I no like guitars!" He must have said it 20 times throughout the day. We are trying to get him used to going to sunday school with all the other kids, but there's a time when guitars are brought in and the kids sing songs - and Casey runs for cover. I've learned that he is very very sensitive to loud noises like garage doors opening - motorcycles - vacumes. Those kind of noises really upset him. So when the guitars came out -Casey went ballistic - and wound up sitting on mom and dad's lap the rest of the service! That is until he saw Pastor Robert at the pulpit delivering the sermon. Casey screamed out "I LIKE HIM!" and we ran like a shot out of the sanctuary and spent the rest of the service in the lobby. It was a panic. :) Don and I spent today hunting for shoes for Cody. He has so many specific needs - even with shoes. He needs very thin soles so he can feel the ground under his feet - helps him keep from stumbling because he can feel more of where he's walking. He also needs velcro or elastic on the front because we have all of about 10 seconds to get shoes on his feet before he starts screaming and pulling our hair. He has a pair of aqua socks that he's worn to a frazzle - so I wound up just buying another pair of those online. It is nearly impossible to find aqua socks with velcro or zippers! But I found a pair. Whew. We've had a fairly mild seizure week - Cody's had probably a couple dozen small seizures per day. Until last night - he had a 5 minute seizure overnight which kind of threw our good streak out the window. This darn zonegran gives him such a honeymoon phase for about a week each time we raise the dose. It's the weirdest thing. Don and I were sad to have finished all 4 seasons of Prison Break on DVD. A few nights a week when the kids are in bed we treat ourselves to 1 episode of Prison Break. Before that it was '24.' It's our small way to carve out 45 minutes of mommy/daddy time - while not having to think too much! By the way I finished The Shack. It's late now so I'll chat about that tomorrow. Love to all!! shawna
