Hi all, Our dear Casey is officially 2 years old! WHERE does time go?? It was an interesting day. Cody's birthday present to Casey was a 7.5 minute seizure first thing this morning. So scary. I had to give him diastat which I hate. I was so bummed because I had planned a morning of fun activities for me and Casey for his birthday. In lieu of that, I stood watch over Cody's limp body and Casey watched videos. Cody finally rebounded by the afternoon and I felt he was stable enough to leave him for a small bit with his caregiver who is great about seizures - and who knew I was 5 minutes away. So Casey and I broke away for about an hour. His all time favorite activity is getting 'Bubble Tea' which we get at a Taiwanese restaurant in Kirkland called "Cafe Happy." It's right on the main street and we sit outside and he points to motorcycles going by - trucks - police cars....and he pets all the doggies going by on their leashes. Bubble Tea is basically a fruit smoothie with little tapioca pudding beads at the bottom that get sucked up in your straw. Casey thinks it's just the coolest thing ever. He wakes up every morning and the first words out of his mouth are "Bubble Tea today?" Here's a quick video: Dim lights Embed Embed this video on your site He has won over the owners and they always have a treat for him - today it was a little bag of M&M's.
After that we went into a couple of shops in downtown Kirkland where Casey found some boots that he loved.
Then we went to the waterfront and he waded in the waves of Lake Washington and played among the duckies. When we came home, Cody was feeling better and was out on the swingset so Casey ripped off his diaper and went to join him. I fear this is a new 'terrible 2' behavior - being able to take his diaper off at will. Yikes! He escaped and ran as fast as he could for the freedom of the great outdoors. Casey discovered he loved being naked outside (his first time) and he scampered away from me so quick I couldn't get him back inside! Notice the strategically placed leaf in this photo - I'm quite proud of my photography:
He was a little naked wildman - free and one with nature (and the monkey bars!)
He also got some fun presents - Jennifer gave him this yellow stuffed doggie with "CASEY" embroidered on it plus 2 new Veggie Tales videos! What a score!
So despite Cody's tough day, we managed to eek out some fun for Casey. Saturday Don and I are taking him someplace to celebrate better like the Seattle Aquarium or something. And of course we'll have birthday cake and I will bring out his 'mini-me' kiddie barbeque where he will barbeque side by side with daddy for dinner. We pray for a better day for Cody tomorrow - and for SLEEP for him overnight. Last night we were up from 2am-4am, he and I due to his gas pain. That's our news for now - love to you all, Shawna
