Hello all,

We are on day 5 of 'tube feeding central' and still figuring out how it's all supposed to work!  I went to Children's today to meet with our nutritionist and a nurse.  Wouldn't you know - it turns out the button stopper is FAULTY.  Ugh.  I had told them I thought it was too loose - it keeps coming 'uncorked' around 5+ times pre day!  No one touches it, it just comes apart all on it's own and (pardon the gross-ness) out pours little amounts of stomach stuff.  EWWWWWWWWW.  The nurse said the stopper doesn't fit tightly enough so it has to be replaced.  Of all the dumb luck.  They can't do it for 12 weeks because they have to wait for total healing first.  I have no idea whether it will require another surgical procedure or not.  If so, shoot me now.  :)  I can't even go there yet.  We'll deal with that when it comes.

We are also changing formulas from Boost Plus to Peptomin which is pre-digested.  Cody's been up every night from gas pain so hopefully this will be easier to digest. 

We are now able to put him in his high chair for at least one of the feedings which helps keep him calm.  Someone holds all his favorite toys up above his head so his arms are always up and away from the feeding site.  He is still doing very little oral eating - I have to try to figure out a way to bolster that. 

That's our news in a nutshell.  Casey turns 2 tomorrow and I have nothing planned.  yikes!  I did find him a kids barbecuqe that I will put out on the deck next to daddy's.  He will love it.  And he's getting a trike from his grandparents.  I think this weekend we'll probably get a cake or maybe take him for a fun play time somewhere to celebrate.  I just didn't have it in me to plan a party.  Luckily he doesn't know the difference yet.  I want to get him some Lincoln Logs too - I think that would appeal to his interest in putting things together (and taking them apart!)  He's been watching Charlotte's Web and loving it - he is fascinated with spiders.  WHY ME?!?  I'm trying not to communicate my true feelings - 'all spiders should be tortured and killed'.  I will let him decide that for himself.  Haha.
