Hi all, Well it was a rough day. Cody was dazed and floppy and slept *all* day. It was very strange and scary. But about 4pm he rousted and took a jacuzzi bath which seemed to hit the spot. And since then, he seems to be gradually gaining energy and eating a bit more. He ate 1/2 an avocado and a piece of peanut butter toast for dinner plus some gator ade so that was a big meal. I hope he can keep it down. I cracked myself up today. The ravages of no sleep for 3 days now has literally fried my brain. My friend Kim came over to help and I was making out a grocery list. I wrote "gator eggs" instead of gator aid. I'm sure that threw her at the store. Can you imagine her in the deli, "excuse me, do you have any gator eggs?" We had a good laugh about that. I was transposing words right and left. I asked her if she "got the Ranheim yet." Dr. Ranheim is one of Cody's doctors. My sentences were complete jibberish. It's weird because I think this is the worst level of sleep deprivation I've ever had - you almost get giddy at this point. So there you go - I think Cody is rebounding. I pray it's so. Don is taking him tonight to give me a break and let me get some sleep. One thing I will say for sure about having a child who has seizures - on a typical night when i crawl into bed with Cody - the LAST thing I do is relax. For most people, going to bed is an escape - a time to rest and rejuvinate. For me, it's when the real hell begins. I brace myself for seizures, tossing, turning, hours of middle-of-the-night wakefullness, gas pain. I can't remember the last time I slept for more than 4 hours straight. Every morning at 3am I wake to give Cody his seizure meds in his sleep. I tuck them into a little bite of banana and down they go! Such craziness. Tonight I will relish not having those stresses when I lay down. Our little Cody is a trooper - no doubt about it. And Casey handles these nutty episodes great too. He gets shuttled between tons of different people while we do hospital and Dr. runs. And he charms them all. He is really learning to adapt and is just a fun little companion to whoever is helping us at the time. Thank you for your prayers - they mean the world and keep us afloat. with love, shawna
