well here's what happens when you give the baby a piece of chocolate in the car - not a good idea! but so cute!
Casey earned himself a bath - and as I wrote earlier - he walks right to the jacuzzi tub and takes a bath with big brother!
Even daddy jumps in!
Dim lights Embed Embed this video on your site This has been a fantastic few days. No seizures at all for Cody - he's been happy, smiley, and has done great therapy work at home. So for this we're grateful. I'm always surprised when I see him on video - how vacant he looks. I guess when I say he's "smiley and happy" what I mean is, he cracks a smile 3 or 4 times a day. To me, that's "super happy." The rest of the time, I have to admit, he looks as he does in the video - kind of checked out. It breaks my heart. Where is my little boy's personality? Dampened by drugs? Lost inside? It's funny how your "new normal" evolves. Casey smiles non-stop all day - but for me to label Cody as "smiley" all it takes is 1 or 2 glimmers of a smile and I call it a fantastic day for him. He's so tormented so much of the time - with sensory needs - behavior issues (eye poking, stimming, etc) that to see him content and STILL in the bath tub also gets the label "fantastic." If someone had told me 2 years ago that these moments would be my new "fantastic" I would have cried. A boy sitting in a bath with no facial expressions - not looking when his name is spoken - not interacting at all with his brother - THAT is fantastic? But nowadays, I would answer....."he's sitting STILL....he's content....he's not screaming or stimming....he's calm." Amazing how your perspective changes. Don and I get to go on a date tonight - to a church event. I've already gotten Cody's therapy out of the way for the day which always feel good. Now daddy has the boys at Costco picking up diapers and wipes and I get this wonderful free moment to write to you! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I'm am going to choose to be grateful for the small things - bubble baths - smiles - rain tapping against the roof. Glad for the weekends....always. with love, shawna
