Hello there - wow loooooooooong week!  Cody started school Monday - just pre-school for now with his "extended day program" for autism beginning Sept. 23rd.  I never talk in much detail about school on this site for various reasons.  If you want to talk IEP's, etc. for kids like Cody, please email me from this site personally and I'd be glad to do so.

For now, I'll just say that he seems to enjoy getting back to school for the stimulatory aspects of things.  He has a dear 1:1 nurse named Janine who we love - and I know he is in nurturing hands with her.  That gives me much peace of mind.  His IEP is still unfinished which is frustrating.  I'm hoping his summer progress transitions into the school setting but we'll see.  His buzz cut was a huge hit, I do know that!

Still healing nicely from the VNS surgery - got all of his steri-strips taken off today!  It was turned on today but at such a low level it really won't even be noticable I'm told.  They just turn it on or off with a magnet, isn't that weird!?!  He doesn't even notice that it's on.  They say it will take 4 months to get the stimulating worked up to the proper level.

That's it for now - this has been an exhausting week for me.  School always brings an added stress to life as I try to advocate for him.  So I'm going to hit the sack and be glad for the weekend!

with love,

Shawna
