Just call him "Spike!"  I sent Daddy out today to get Cody his "back to school" haircut - and daddy told the barber the magic 4 words:  "cut it like mine."  And here's the little boy who walked back through my door - with a spikey, adorable, daddy-like haircut!

Cody is known for touching men's heads and beards because he LOVES the feel of short hair on his fingertips.  It's a sensory thing.  Just feels good to him to touch the short bristley hair.  In school one of his favorite passtimes is to do a "walk by" as I call it - he walks by another child and just brushes the top of that child's hair with his hand.  At his old school there was an African American little boy with a super short haircut and Cody LOVED just rubbing and rubbing the top of this kids head.  It was a panic.  And the boy loved having his head rubbed so it was a win/win!  Cody would walk by and the little boy would lean Cody's way to get a head rub.  A match made in heaven.  During summer school his therapist noticed him doing it so much that she bought him a wig to feel -- to distract him from rubbing the other kid's heads!  hahaha.  Too funny.  So without further ado, here's Cody moments after the hair cut -- feeling his OWN head for a change!

That's my boy!  He's done much better today - only 1 tiny seizure and pretty much back to his old self again.  We hope for a great school year - he has his backpack packed, his new stark white saddle shoes, his new spikey "do", so he's ready to go!

with love,

Shawna
